In 2019, S.M.A.K. will be twenty years old. Reason enough to fill the whole museum with a selection from the collection for the first time. We shall lead you into the labyrinth of contemporary art on the basis of about 200 works (10% of the whole collection).

Irresistible dance- and trance-go-go-music of, that’s right: the Wagogo people of Tanzania. Msafiri Zawose grew up in an exceptional musical family, with his father as principal player (in the likes of Peter Gabriel’s Real World stables). Msafiri has now finished a splendid CD himself: 'Uhamiaji', on the very worldly-wise Soundway label.
Belgian artist Thomas Lerooy (°1981) is known for his sculptures and drawings. In Behind the Curtain, the exhibition at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, he shows paintings alongside his sculptures for the first time.
The foundation invites the artist Karine Rougier to reconstruct her studio in the spaces of the foundation, in an immersive exhibition format marrying free forms inspired by nature and in dialogue with the works of the ceramist Alessandro Roma.
